On November 28, 2007, City Council passed a motion to provide an additional $15 million in funding towards the redevelopment of the Ottawa Congress Centre. This is a significant step forward for the project with funding commitments from all public sector partners now in place for a total investment of $140 million.

The redevelopment will transform the Ottawa Congress Centre into a state-of-the-art convention centre on our existing site in the heart of the Nation’s Capital. The new building, which will greatly enhance the urban landscape, will also improve the quality of Ottawa’s downtown experience for its citizens and tourists alike. Further, it will affirm Ottawa’s position as a strong Tier II convention destination attracting more and larger conventions and the very significant economic benefits they generate.
